Men or women: who are most likely to be pediatricians?

A pediatrician is a doctor who specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of children from the birth until adulthood.

If your goal is to become such a doctor then by reading this article you will find out exactly what you have to do in order to achieve your dream.

The first step in becoming a pediatrician is to first finish college and then to attend medical school. After this you will have to complete a residency and in some cases you also have to do a fellowship. This means that if you want to do this job you will have to train for at least 12 years.

Like adult doctors, pediatricians can also specialize in a certain field of diseases. These may include neonatology, cardiologists, pediatric surgery, or endocrinology. If you choose to specialize in cardiology, then you should know that this branch of medicine deal with heart problems, and to complete it you will have to study for another 6 years. In the first three you will have to complete a residency in internal medicine and in the other three a residency in cardiology.

When you complete your training, you will have the possibility to work on your own or in private practice with another pediatrician. There is also the possibility to work in a group practice and also in hospitals and medical schools. It is all up to you to choose which one fits you best.

Did you know? Studies reveal that women are most likely to do this job, since over 60% of pediatrics are women. As all the other types of doctors, pediatrics can also specialize in various medical areas.

You should also keep in mind that you can follow the courses of any medical school, no matter if you are from Belleview, Citrus Springs, Crystal River, Dunnellon, Hernando, Iverness, and even Ocala.
